Cylinder head gasket leak tester for measuring CO₂ content in the cooling system.
The tester is designed to eliminate suspicions of cylinder head gasket or head damage in liquid-cooled gasoline, diesel and LPG internal combustion engines.
If the gasket is leaking and CO₂ enters the cooling system, the reaction fluid changes color to yellow or green.
The operating principle of the device is based on measuring CO₂ concentration - when the CO₂ content increases, the reaction liquid reacts with the gas and changes its color.
The set includes:
- CO₂ reaction liquid – 10 ml (enough for about 5 tests)
- Universal conical adapter 25-55 mm
- Measuring tube
Universal adapter
The black 25-55 mm measuring adapter allows you to test up to 6 times more different coolant fill hole diameters than testers with a single white adapter.
Suitable for use:
- in passenger cars
- in trucks and tractors
- in excavators
- on motorcycles
- in forklifts
The adapter is made of a special, high-temperature-resistant and sufficiently soft rubber compound, so it fits tightly to the filling hole and the tester tube, ensuring 100% tightness during the test.
Test instructions:
- Fill the tester with reaction liquid to the level between the chambers (approximately 2 ml).
- Connect the tester to the expansion tank or radiator opening.
- Start the engine and increase the rpm to create higher combustion pressure.
- Leave the engine running at slightly increased speed and monitor the condition of the reaction fluid.
- A change in the color of the reaction fluid to yellow or green within a few minutes indicates damage to the cylinder head gasket or the head itself.
- After the test is complete, carefully remove the device.
Interpretation of test results:
- Color from blue to green (diesel engine) - cylinder head gasket or head damage
- Color from blue to yellow (petrol/LPG engine) – cylinder head gasket or head damage
- Reaction liquid remains blue – no CO₂ detected in the cooling system
Safety information
- When performing the test on a hot engine, especially when unscrewing the radiator or expansion tank cap, extreme caution is necessary - risk of burns.
- Do not allow coolant to mix with the reaction fluid during the test, as the results may be inaccurate.
- Keep out of reach of children, wash hands thoroughly after testing.
